Taha Akram is a famous Pakistani YouTuber known for his sarcastic comedy videos on YouTube. He has 1.63 million subscribers on his official YouTube channel, Taha Official Shorts.
Recently, the YouTuber exposed the alleged hidden reality of an Edhi Child Home, which is famous shelter home for kids started by Abdul Sattar Edhi.
In a video he posted on Instagram, Taha Akram said, “I am currently at an Edhi Child Home, and what I witnessed here saddened me and I felt it by heart. I met these kids, spent time with them, and had conversations. There are many hidden stories behind the normal-looking lives of these children.
Their hands had bruises, bleeding and infections. Many didn’t tell me anything in fear, but a few said they are being beaten here. This broke my heart. We think that children at shelter homes are safe, but it’s not always like that. Please raise your voice for them because they deserve a normal, respectful life filled with love and care.”
Social media users and celebrities are also raising their voices, with some sharing alleged incidents of maltreatment of children at Edhi Child Homes. One user wrote, “Someone I know works at an Edhi centre, and she told me they treat kids badly.”
Many others have tagged authorities to take notice of Edhi centres. One wrote, “It cannot be the same after Abdul Sattar Edhi.” Several celebrities have also reposted the YouTuber’s video.
