The Punjab government has announced five consecutive days of holidays in Lahore from February 4 to February 8, combining a religious public holiday, a national day, and the city’s traditional Basant festivities.
According to an official announcement, the holiday period will begin on Wednesday, February 4, on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. This will be followed by a national holiday on February 5 to mark Kashmir Day. Subsequently, Basant celebrations will take place from February 6 to February 8, resulting in an uninterrupted five-day break for the provincial capital.
During this period, schools, colleges, and government offices in Lahore will remain closed, allowing citizens to participate in Basant activities and spend time with their families.
PROVINCE-WIDE SHAB-E-BARAT HOLIDAY
Separately, the Punjab government has declared a public holiday across the entire province on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD), all government offices under the administrative control of the Punjab government, including autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, government corporations, local councils, and all government and semi-government educational institutions, will remain closed on February 4, 2026.
The holiday will be observed uniformly in all districts of Punjab. The Auqaf Department and other relevant authorities have been directed to ensure proper arrangements at mosques, shrines, and cemeteries to manage expected crowds and prevent any untoward incidents.
