rainy skies and a tender chill start the week

As the new week unfolds, a soft yet powerful embrace of rain and wind greets much of the country, hinting at the arrival of autumn’s charm.

Starting Monday, the weather forecast by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) shows Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and Punjab in the midst of rain, strong winds, and thundershowers.

Going region by region, expect partly cloudy skies with the possibility of thundershowers and gusty winds across Islamabad and its surrounding areas. As the rain falls, heavy showers or hailstorms may surprise a few areas as well.

Islamabad woke up to chilly winds and moderately heavy rainfall, enough to run those windshield wipers but not enough to accumulate water on roads.

The sweeping rain will reach various corners of Punjab on Monday, with Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Mianwali, and several other towns experiencing strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy downpours. A few locations may even witness hailstorms. There have also been early reports of rain from multiple areas in Lahore.

Meanwhile, Sindh will remain hotter and drier, but even here, there’s a touch of autumn’s flair as Umerkot, Tharparkar, and coastal areas may see the skies darken with clouds, bringing light showers and the soft sound of distant thunder.

The highlands of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are set to receive their own dramatic weather, with areas like Dir, Chitral, and Peshawar bracing for thundershowers and gusty winds. Some of the high mountain regions may even witness early snowfall as well.

Balochistan, however, will remain under the warm and dry weather, though the coastal regions could catch glimpses of the shifting skies.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also experience rainfall, strong winds, and the possibility of thundershowers. On high mountain peaks, snowfall is expected too.
