A local court has issued a written order approving a three-day physical remand for officers of the National Cyber Crime Agency (NCCA) who were arrested on bribery and corruption charges linked to the Ducky Bhai case.
Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo released a three-page written decision detailing the allegations and evidence presented by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The order states that the accused are facing charges of fraud and embezzlement involving a total of Rs 42.548 million. The FIA had sought an extension in their physical remand to collect further evidence and documents related to the case.
According to the court order, the investigation revealed that substantial sums were recovered from multiple accused: Rs 700,000 from Arslan Raza, Rs 9.9 million from Zawar, Rs 1.948 million from Yasir, Rs 360,000 from Mujtaba Zafar, Rs 4.5 million from Muhammad Usman, and Rs 300,000 from Salman Aziz.
Complainant Aroob Jatoi alleged that Rs9 million had been paid in bribes to officer Shoaib Riaz, while an additional Rs 500,000 was allegedly given to Chaudhry Sarfraz Ahmed. The court noted that the case involves two main components, one concerning the bribery allegations and another related to a broader corruption network within the NCCA.
The FIA informed the court that the accused possess assets beyond their known sources of income and that due to holidays and ongoing recoveries, the statements of several victims remain incomplete.
The court directed that any future remand should be based strictly on investigative progress and evidence presented. It approved a further three-day physical remand and instructed the FIA to complete verification of the complainants’ statements.
