PCB Slams Fictional Rift Claims Between Shaheen and Salman Agha

The Pakistan Cricket Board issued a strong statement to quash viral social media rumours suggesting a rift between pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi, white-ball captain Salman Ali Agha, and head coach Mike Hesson.

The Board categorically denied the claims, calling them “baseless, fabricated and defamatory,” and announced its intention to pursue legal action against those behind the allegations.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly denied reports suggesting a rift between pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, and a member of the coaching staff, dismissing the claims as “baseless, fabricated, and defamatory.”

The PCB categorically rubbished the rumours that had gained traction on social media, asserting that “no such incident” occurred during training or practice sessions involving the national squad.

“These malicious rumours are entirely fictitious and appear to have been deliberately concocted with clear mala fide intent to sow discord within the national squad,” the statement read.

The controversy stems from online speculation claiming a supposed altercation or dispute during Pakistan’s recent training camp between Shaheen, who made a return to the T20I side after sitting on the sidelines for months, and Salman Ali Agha.

But the PCB was quick to dismiss the narrative, calling it a “reprehensible attempt” to damage the harmony and morale of the team at a time when unity is paramount.

The Board didn’t stop at denials alone ,it announced plans to initiate stringent legal action, including defamation and cybercrime charges, against those found responsible for spreading the misinformation.

“This is a serious and premeditated defamation campaign,” the PCB asserted.

The governing body also issued a strong advisory to the public, media outlets, and digital platforms, urging them to avoid endorsing unverified reports and to act responsibly when discussing matters related to the national team.

While Shaheen has previously expressed his displeasure at being left out of the team, there have been no reports of discord with his captain Salman Agha.
