KP chief minister Sohail Afridi announces participation in NFC award meeting

KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has confirmed that he will attend the upcoming NFC Award meeting, following a decision by the parliamentary party.

The chief minister said the tribal districts, merged in 2018, have still not received the funds they were promised. He added that from 2018 to 2025, KP has not been given its due share under the NFC Award.

Afridi emphasized that the NFC Award is a constitutional right of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, not a personal matter. He said every segment of society has the right to raise its voice on issues related to the province’s financial share.

The chief minister also urged the federal government and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of funds. He noted that equitable allocation of resources is critical for the socio-economic development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and for addressing long-standing disparities between provinces.

The NFC Award has long been a critical tool for maintaining fiscal balance and national cohesion in Pakistan. Afridi and other top provincial officials argue that timely and fair implementation of the award is essential not only for regional development but also for reducing poverty, improving public services, and promoting economic stability across the country.
